Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development Commissioner Shawntera Hardy emphasized the importance of supporting business development among historically under-served populations and praised LegalCORPS’s role in that during the organization’s Annual Fundraiser & Volunteer Recognition Celebration Oct. 6.

LegalCORPS Board President Marty Rosenbaum (with red tie, right side of photo) joined the Sounds of Blackness as they led the audience in celebration.

In  her keynote talk, Commissioner Hardy noted that LegalCORPS considers these populations assets rather than liabilities or problems to be solved — an outlook Minnesota’s DEED embraces as well.

LegalCORPS honored its volunteer of the year, Rakhi Nikhanj, at the event.  She thanked the organization for providing her opportunities to serve low-income entrepreneurs and inventors who inspire her and other LegalCORPS volunteers.

A highlight of the evening was a rousing, joyous performance by the Grammy Award-winning vocal group Sounds of Blackness — which was sponsored by LegalCORPS Board of Directors members as a special thanks for LegalCORPS volunteers.

LegalCORPS is grateful for these sponsors who made the event possible:
